Greetings from Team EINS (formerly known as Team turbospezial)!
Today marks a special moment in our company's history as we announce our makeover and transition from turbospezial to EINS.
turbospezial represented the turbo acceleration we were aiming for with this e-bike and its spezial (german for special) looks.
We loved this one-of-a-kind name and thought it clearly represented our brand and who we are.
And we were right.
During the last 6 months as we prepared for the launch of our Indiegogo Crowdfunding Campaign, turbospezial gained massive popularity. Over 35,000 excited fans all over the world joined our electric bmx waitlist. Our success and growing awareness didn’t go unnoticed; soon we heard from Specialized.
They felt they needed to defend their trademark in connection with the name turbospezial, and sent us a request to cease-and-desist for using "e-bike" with "turbospezial".
When we received the letter from Specialized, two thoughts came to mind:
- Doh! Specialized is after us, but we won’t go down without a fight as we have a legitimate claim to use the name in this category.
- They can keep us in court for as long as they want, draining our bank account, and distracting us from progress. Is the fight really worth it?
We decided that spending all this time and money fighting Specialized would distract us from continuing to build the most stunning e-bike imaginable – in that spirit, we’ve decided to instead change our company's identity to EINS.
So, please allow us to reintroduce ourselves.
But how did we come up with EINS?
EINS is the German word for “one” and embodies everything we wanted our bike to be in the first place.
The one bike you need to conquer the city. The one bike to do it all: to commute to work, to take urban shortcuts, to fit your style, to do tricks and grin the entire time.
You only need an EINS bike to do it all. Our vision for EINS remains the same and we can only do this with your support.
We would like to personally thank you for your trust and support, and for believing in us. The transition to EINS allows us to go full throttle with our Indiegogo Campaign to launch the EINS electric BMX, and get one step closer to bringing BMX feeling and electric speed to streets worldwide.
2021 was an amazing year and we were amazed by all the positive feedback we received from you, our community. But 2022 will truly be turbo. Stay tuned for the final drop date, which we’ll announce in the coming days.
We can’t wait to finally see all of you on your own EINS bike.
